Green Cleaning Products vs. Mainstream Cleaners

Published by soja at 10:46 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Cleaning products can work effectively without chemicals. Today I tested this theory by scrubbing my entire bathroom with all-natural cleaners I bought from a woman in my community who makes them herself . Now, I’m not a slob, but my bathroom was pretty filthy. It had the typical mold on the tub, dust by the window, and grimy surfaces galore.

I used a Safe Scrub that I sprinkled around and scrubbed into a paste for my tub. Then I wiped everything down with a Sparkly Soap, which I added a capful to a warm bucket of water. For the sink, all I used was Safe Spray and a rag.

I was so surprised with the results. Of course, I want eco-friendly cleaners to work since I’m an environementalist. But, I’m not gonna lie and I’m not gonna waste money on something that can’t clean my bathroom. So, here are the honest results: It was easy and required hardly any elbow grease. My bathroom is clean! It smelled like vingar for a minute, but the other cleaners with essential oils soon covered up the vingear stench.

Safe Spray is quite simple. It’s made of distilled water, distilled white vinegar, organic essential oils. Quite frankly, I could make it myself but it’s not like it was expensive to buy. And I like the convenience of having everything pre-mixed in the right amounts.

Now, I have used chemical cleaners earlier in the year and they were awful. Sure, they did the job but I always hated their smell. I looked at the P&G website to compare the ingredients of Mr. Cleaner all-purpose spray cleaner with Safe Spray, which also is an all-purpose cleaner. After ten minutes of searching, I gave up. I don’t even know if Mr. Clean’s ingredients are listed on the bottle. Next time I’m at a store I’ll look.

It’s amazing how effective a little vingar and water can be. Vingar kills bacteria and mold and, from my research, works quite well.

Who needs toxins, anyways?

Cool! I was really surprised when natural cleaners worked for me. I haven’t personally tried any essential oil yet but I know it’s good stuff. I actually posted a similar thing on my blog today.
